Starting off by playing around with the loft tool to see what kind of shapes I could make. 




Based on my fooling around, I started narrowing down the shape I wanted.

Then I changed/adjusted my previous likes to make sure it would stand up when I put pens in it.

This kept popping up. 

This is why - this one side would fail to form


Did a patch - didn't quite work


So, made a duplicate and scaled it down

And a boolean difference for the final piece

 Presentation and Files: Files Presentation Process For Adding Some Final Details: Decided to redo the lower part of the cap because it actually isn't threads like the upper part, but just bumps. So I used the unroll and flow along surface commands.  Made a cylinder the size of what I needed because unroll doesn't like the tube shape.  Making sure I have the right number of bumps and the right spacing.  Mini render to check progress Then I did the same thing to be able to place the Eddie Bauer logo as well. Same thing here - making the right-sized cylinder that I will be able to unroll.  On the unrolled surface, I made guide marks to be able to properly place the logo so that it doesn't overlap with anything or do anything funky.  Ta-da! 3D Printed Design Concepts: Part Four (Renders and Cumulative Post)

Starting by making the base roughly the same size as the other base sizes.  Also adjusting the thickness of the pole so that it will be able to print.  Here they are all together, the sizes are definitely more consistent and closer to what I wanted.  Size measurements.  Reprint: The base is closer in size to the others and the flag pole is much thicker (no supports show up when I put supports on.  Just had to wait a few minutes and then there were some for me to book. But I only needed a single slot anyway. So it wasn't too bad.  Aaannnnddd...the pole didn't print.  Guess I'm resorting to toothpicks.  Painting: So, here is my solution to the pole problem.
